Three key autumn/winter interior design trends

Last week was a big week in the world of interior design. The London Design Festival took place - a celebration of all things design including reputable trade events, Decorex, Design Junction and 100% Design

As we do every year, we've been following the events and admiring all the trends to give you the low down on the key developments influencing interior design for the coming season. Here are five autumn/winter trends to keep on your radar for the months ahead...

1) Vintage glamour

The shabby chic trend is showing no signs of slowing down. You only have to pick up a copy of Ideal Home magazine to see duck egg shutters, clean white countertops and reclaimed wooden cabinets.

This season though, shabby chic is undergoing a wintery makeover for some designers, in the form of vintage glamour. Think 1920s Great Gatsby, black and white walls, metallic features, luxury textures and grandiose furniture. Our Dark Emperor MarbleNero Absoluto Granite or Cabouchon Brushed Travertine fit the bill perfectly for this!

2) Patterns & checks

Nothing says winter like checked throws and fair isle accessories, but this autumn/winter patterns are on trend in a whole number of different forms. Spots, striple, zig zags, swirls - graphic and bold prints are back with a bang, bringing some pzazz to interiors when matched with simple surfaces like our Carrara White Marble and Caria Luna Tumbled Marble.

3) Bold pops of colour

#designincolour was on of the official hashtags from this year's 100% Design exhibition which gave some great food for thought to the hundreds of interior designers visiting. Despite the prominence of blue and navy in the autumn/winter season's trends, pops of colour are also heavily featured. Neutral walls, floors and surfaces with bright accents of colour brought in through accessories like these neon yellow chairs. Our Glacier Range includes some knockout feature tiles to draw attention to a particular colour or texture.
